List of Vintage, Antique and Collectable Fairs for June 2013

Bit late this month with the list of fairs so apologies for that especially as so many are happening this weekend!  Hopefully you'll still have time to plan your weekend though :)

First of all is:

Village-Vintage, a huge 2 day event at Plumpton Racecourse in the Sussex countryside.  Doors open at 10am Friday 31st May until 5pm and reopen at 10am Saturday 1st June.  This promises to be a great event that will have something for everyone and as the sun as promised to make an appearance. it will make a great day out.

On the same weekend is The Floral Fringe Fair held in the beautiful surroundings of Knepp Castle in West Grinstead.  This is another 2 day event with doors opening at 10.30am Saturday 1st June.  A slightly different vibe to this fair as it is described as:
The Floral Fringe Fair is a quirky, foodie, arty , plantaholics wildlife event with a vintage twist! 
There are over 100 stalls and wildlife is a very important theme at the fair. The Bat, Bumblebee, Endangered Species and Wildlife Trusts, Amateur Entomologists and Ancient Trees and Countryside Restoration Trust will be there plus lots of local food producers, many nurseries selling a range of plants, art and craft stalls, woodland products, willow weaving and some fabulous alternatives for eating. A vintage pop-up tearoom, wood-fired oven pizzas, vegetarian bhajis and pakoras, 40 different coffees and teas, lots of cakes, a steak burger barbecue, real ale tent and ice creams plus much more! We have some folk music to entertain you and Mythago Morris dancing on Sunday. There are butterfly walks and talks. There will also be classic cars on show. Anyone coming in a pre-1975 car gets a small discount on their ticket. The private walled garden will be open to visit and lastly Home Front History will be meeting and greeting as 1940's policemen!

I'm exhausted just reading that but it sounds like a really great, unusual event so try and make it if you can!

Also this weekend is the Farnham Maltings Vintage Festival.  Doors open at 10am on Sunday 2nd June.  I've never been to this fair but it sounds like great fun and my friends Lizzie aka The Washerwoman and Jean aka Shrimpton and Perfect will be there with their fine selection of vintage goodies so do go and say hello.

The Sandown Park Antique and Vintage Fair is on Tuesday 4th June and doors open at 11am.

I found this flyer at one of the fairs and I thought it looked really interesting. The Old Spitalfields Antiques and Vintage Flea Market is what interests me as there weren't great reviews of the Covent Garden Antiques Market but you can't believe everything you read so its always best to try them out for yourselves.  The Spitalfields Market is every Thursday and opens at 8am, a very respectable time I think!

Another well known London Antiques Market, Bermondsey Antiques Market.  I've never been but it sounds like an experience especially in the old days when it was still a Marche Ouvert meaning the provenance of the goods could not be questioned! Open every Friday from 5am.

The Wealden Times Midsummer Fair is a three day event at Hole Park, Rolvenden in Kent.  It starts on Thursday 6th June, doors open 9am and finishes on Saturday 8th June at 4.30pm. 
As well as 200 stands selling vintage and contemporary finds for home and garden, there will be a fabulous Food Arena with stands selling locally produced food and drink and a Street Food area with gorgeous vans feeding their hungry visitors!  There will also be cookery demonstrations and Hole Park estate is also a working farm so something for all the family.  My friend Caroline from Harriett's Attic a Place of Vintage Treasures is having a stand there so do pop by and say hello!

Tues 11th June sees the first Sunbury antiques Market of the month.  Held at Kempton Racecourse, entry is free, parking is free and doors open at 6.30am.

Saturday June 15th sees a new event for the Vintage and Handmade Vintage Jumble Sale.  This time it is at Selwyn Hall, Box, Corsham, Wiltshire, SN13 8NT.  Doors open 11am until 2pm so get there early to get the bargains!

The largest Antiques fair in the South East, Ardingly is on Tuesday 18th June, doors open 9am and Wednesday 19th June, doors open 8am.  So much to see that you need the whole day just to get round!

The Cuckfield Vintage Emporium is on Friday 21st June and doors open 11am.  Homes and Antiques will be there and so will I as I love going down and spending a couple of hours chatting, drinking tea and of course buying!  A lovely, relaxed monthly fair with some great sellers.

The Sussex Brocante is back this month after taking a break in May and will be on Saturday 22nd June.  Doors open 11am and as usual there will be a mix of wonderful sellers selling, vintage, antiques, country furniture and much more besides.

I've included this Fair at Killerton in Exeter as it looks like so much fun!  A 2 day extravaganza bought to you by Crikey! It's Vintage.  It has 80 traders, fashion shows, live music, old fashioned fairground rides, pop up beauty parlour, jive dancing, you name it, its here!  Open 11am Saturday 22nd June and 11am Sunday 23rd June.  Tickets are only £6 if booked in advance.

The last Sunbury Antiques Fair of the month is on Tuesday 25th June.  Doors open 6.30am

A new fair is the Kentish Affair Vintage Fair held in the beautiful village of Penshurst in Kent.  It sounds like its going to be a real old fashioned vintage fair and my friends Stephen and Judy from
All Things Vintage and Beautiful will be there with their colourful assortments and my friend SJ from Home Front Vintage will also be there with her amazing escape and evade cushions, passport covers, etc all made with genuine cold war maps.  A wonderful piece of history, reused so it isn't lost forever.  The fair is on Saturday 29th June and doors open at 10.30am.

Also on Saturday 29th June is renowned Interiors Stylist, Selina Lake's Handmade & Vintage Summer Fete.  I went to the book launch of her new book Pretty Pastel Style and had a great day.  This time there will be 50 stalls all handpicked by Selina and I just know it will be a great day out.

Saturday 29th June is proving to be popular as this is also the day that the Giant Vintage Rag Market is happening.  Bought to you by the ladies behind The Vintage Bazaar,  
all the handpicked 38 stall holders will be bringing oodles of vintage textiles to sell at rock bottom prices.  Get there early to grab a bargain.  Doors open 9am

A huge 2 day Architectural Salvage Fair is held at Knebworth House on Saturday 29th June and Sunday 30th June.  Salvo Fair brings you 80 exhibitors from Uk, Belgium, France, Hungary and Italy all bringing the best of their Architectural salvage and antiques.  Doors open 11am.

The Country Vintage & Artisan Bazaar  is held at Ripley Village Hall in Surrey and is on Sunday 30th June.  Doors open 11am.  Check the Facebook page to see photos of previous fairs and all the lovely wares on offer.

List of Vintage, Antique and Collectable Fairs in May 2013

Once again its time for the list that helps you plan your vintage month.  All these fairs are taking place in May and where possible I have included their websites for you check opening times etc.

To kick off we have Judy's Affordable Vintage Fair at Old Spitalfields Market.  It is on Saturday 4th May and doors open at 11am.  There will be 100 stalls offering everything from 100 years of affordable fashion, Flapper through to swinging 60s, vintage accessories, vintage furniture and homewares, menswear, upcycled and handmade and sales rails galore.  Judy's fairs are well known and travel round the country offering different vintage experiences so check out there websites for other dates and towns.

Sunday 5th May sees a fair that I haven't heard of before.  Blighty Boutique Vintage and Handmade Fair is being held at Hatton Village Hall, Warwickshire and doors open 11am.  Two of my fellow stallholders who I have met through doing these fairs, Stephen and Judy from All things Vintage and Beautiful will have a stand there and they always sell the most wonderful items, I think I buy a little something from them everytime!

Arun Fair - Woodland Centre

  
Arun Fairs run several fairs around Sussex and the first of the monthly is the monthly Woodland Centre Fair in Rustington.  Held on the first Sunday of every month the next fair is Sunday 5th May and doors open 10am.  50 stalls selling antiques and collectables.

Arun Fairs - Goodwood

Bank holiday Monday 6th May is Arun Fairs, Goodwood Racecourse Antiques and Collectables fair.  Doors open 9am and there are about 300 stalls.

I can't wait for this one!  The beautiful Brocante Antique and Decorative Fair is held once a year and this year the venue is the stunning Nonsuch Mansion in Cheam, Surrey.  This promises to be a visually stunning day out with 50 stallholders selling the best in vintage and Antiques.  Doors open at 9.30 on Thursday 9th May.  You can prebook your tickets with VIP parking by clicking the link to organiser Nikki Page's website.  Do try and make this one if you can and make a full day of it, enjoy the vintage and antiques and your surroundings, lets hope the sun shines!

 The monthly Cuckfield Vintage Emporium is back on Friday 10th May at the Queen's Hall, Cuckfield.  Doors open 11am.  Very nice monthly fair with a good selection of dealers, preloved clothes and wonderful tea room.  Cuckfield is also nice to have a stroll around afterwards!

Imagine 3 whole days to indulge in your antique, vintage and collectable obsession.  Well you don't have to imagine anymore as IACF is hosting the 3 day Shepton Mallet Antiques and Collectors Fair on Friday 10th May through until Sunday 12th May.  It hosts up to 600 stands and there is bound to be something for everyone.  Doors open 12pm on the Friday.  Check opening times for Sat and Sun.

Saturday 11th May sees the next Pop-Up Vintage at a new venue in Lewes.  This time the fair is at Lewes Town Hall and doors open 10.30am.  Over 60 stallholders offering a range of vintage and collectables plus Lewes has an amazing array of Antique shops if you still need your fix!

The Country Vintage and Artisan Bazaar  is on Sunday 12th May at Ripley Village Hall.  Doors open 11am.  This promises to have stalls with unique vintage ware, amazing artisan work and of course tasty treats after all that shopping!

Sunbury Antiques Market

Tuesday 14th May sees the first Sunbury Antiques Fair of the month.  As always entry and parking are free and doors open at 6.30am.

The annual Decorative Living Fair is on Thursday 16th May at Eridge Park and you can get an earlybird ticket for 9.30am or a standard ticket for entry at 11.30am.  Check out the website and Facebook page as the photos of previous fairs look amazing.  Well worth a day out especially if the sun is shining and you can sit and relax after all the shopping and enjoy the Kent countryside with a little glass of something!

Saturday 18th May is the day for a brand new fair organised by Emily of Love Emily Vintage.  This brand new fair is The Vintage and Artisan Carousel.  Doors open at 11am at the Village Hall in Dial Post.  This looks to be an exciting new fair with lots to see and do including a vintage tea parlour, Betty the Vintage Scoops Ice Cream Van, music from Hannah Summers and of course lots and lots of vintage and handmade!  Entry is free and so is parking.

Sandown Park Antiques Fair is on Sunday 19th May and a great opportunity to go to one of their fairs if you can't make their Tuesday ones.  Doors open 10am and there are 150 indoor stalls plus outdoor stalls.

The Annual Midsummer Fair is held in the beautiful grounds of Trading Boundaries in aid of St Peter & St James Hospice and is being held on Friday 24th May, doors open 10am. It sounds as though it will be a wonderful collection of over 34  Decorative Living, Vintage, Garden, Gifts, Fashion & Food stands.  Plus they have a Live Band, Champagne Bar and tea Tent.  Trading Boundaries has Indian & contemporary furniture and there are a collection of Boutiques with Fashion, Children clothes, Toys, Garden Shop  and Cafe/Restaurant in the Courtyard .  Entry to the Fair is £3 (under 16s and after 3.30pm free)

 

I've been looking forward to this one all year.  Its the Original Vintage and Handmade Fair back again at The Town Hall, Chipping Sodbury.  Doors open at 10am on Saturday 25th May and you can expect to find all the usual quality of vintage and handmade goods on offer. I loved this fair when I did it last year and you can read about my time here.  I am hoping that this time my car doesn't break down a mile away from the venue!

The Vintage and Very Nice Market Bazaar  is back on Saturday 25th May at the Assembly Rooms, Chichester.  Doors open 10am.  Entry is free and there is a large range of vintage and crafts people bringing you everything you need to create your vintage home.

Sunday 26th May sees the first ever Vintage and Retro Fair organised by Belle's Events.  Doors open 12pm at the Drill Hall, Horsham.  There will be vintage make overs, photo booth boutique, tea room, lots of vintage goodies PLUS you can also have a go at some V&R crafts in the Vintage and Retro Makers' corner.  Sounds like a great day out.

Arun fairs - Fontwell Racecourse

Bank Holiday Monday 27th May is Arun Fairs Fontwell Racecourse Fair where you will find 250+ stalls.  Doors open 9am

The last Sunbury Antiques Fair of the month is Tuesday 28th May.  Doors open 6.30am

Last but by no means least is the wonderful Village-Vintage. A huge two day event held at Plumpton Racecourse on Friday 31st May and Saturday 1st June, doors open at 10am.  This was the first fair I had a stall at and I can't recommend it enough.  Full to the brim of quality vintage and handmade stalls this is a great day out.  To read abut my experience please click here.  Even though I don't have a stall I will be first in the queue as I can't wait to see whats on offer.

The fairs I have listed this month look to be wonderful events and well worth a visit especially the annual ones.  Please feel free to share any experience you have of these fairs, I'd love to hear your views.

Sussex Country Brocante and other fairs

I thought I would let you know about a few fairs that are happening in Sussex over the coming weeks and also if I have it written down then I remember too!  Thanks to Theo & Bernice for the info on the new Ditchling Market fair.

The first one is the beautiful monthly Sussex Country Brocante held in the lovely village of Wisborough Green.  Over 25 stalls including me will be selling a wonderful range of antique textiles, antique country furniture, vintage homeware and much more.  It is a lovely day out with tea and cake available and there are several pubs nearby to have a pub lunch after all the shopping!

The next fair is this Thurs 4th Oct and doors open at 11am.

The Old Market in Hove BN3 1AS is hosting a Vintage Fair this Saturday 6th Oct and doors open at 11am.  It promises to be an all day celebration of 50s fashion, music and fads and has an onsite stylist for that essential period grooming.  There will be stalls selling clothes, furniture, vintage homeware and much more.

Another fair that I would like to mention is Mainwaring's Seaside Brocante in the lovely town of Whitstable.  The fair is held at St Mary's Hall, Oxford Street, Whitstable, Kent CT5 1DD and is held once or twice monthly.  Dates for this year are Sat 6th Oct, Sat 20th Oct, Sat 3rd Nov, Sat 1st Dec and Sat 15th Dec.  There is a range of vintage clothing, fabrics, vintage homeware and much more.  It makes a lovely day out as after the fair you can meander down the street looking at the antique shops and then go and have oysters that were caught that day.  Well worth a visit.

Next up is a new fair, Ditchling Vintage Market, organised by Darcy who also co-organises the Village-Vintage fairs.  This fair is held in Ditchling Village Hall BN6 8TT on Friday 19th Oct and doors open at 11am

Next we have the Village-Vintage Winter Wonderland fair Plumpton Racecourse BN7 3AL on Sat 10th Nov, doors open at 11am.
This is a brilliant fair and has something for everyone.  I'm busy buying stock for this fair as I will have a stall for the 2nd time, I'd had such a great time in July that I had to come back again.  I'm also trying to save some pennies as there is so much on offer, a really great day out!

On Sat Nov 17th at 11am K&A Pop Up Vintage are hosting another fair at the Adastra Hall, Hassocks BN6 8QH.  This fair has over 50 stalls, pop up tearoom and a backstage boudoir for vintage hairstyling.  There will be vintage homeware, vintage Christmas gifts and much more.

My time at the Village Vintage fair

7th July 2012....My first ever Vintage Fair!

I am an avid collector of stuff!  So much so that it had got to the point of either my Husband moves out or I sell some of my 'bits'.  My husband won this battle (for now) and I decided that I needed to take the bull by the horns and sell for real at a proper vintage fair.  I have dabbled in Ebay over the years and whilst its a great selling tool, what I really wanted to do and where my passion lies is in vintage fairs.  I love going to them and seeing and touching all the lovely things on offer so why not sell at one too?



I had been to a Village-Vintage fair last year and knew that this was the one for me.  It encompassed everything I love, vintage, faded treasures, cake and tea, what more could a girl want!  So I sent of my application form and waited till the big day.  Luckily I have a very helpful and understanding husband, Mark, who helped load the van (I had a LOT of stuff) and came with me for moral support.  Once we got there, the nerves kicked in and I nearly turned round and walked straight back out.  I was with the professionals, whose stalls all looked so gorgeous and beautifully staged that I felt like an imposter.  However everyone was so incredibly friendly and helpful that I soon got in the swing of it and had the best time.  I met and spoke to the other stallholders, who like me all seem to have a real passion for what they do and love the items they buy.  The general public were also very friendly and it was a real pleasure to see people buying things that they really loved and to see the enthusiasm for their purchases.  Even though I had lived with my treasures for so long and I found it really hard to let go, knowing they were off to a new home to be enjoyed made the parting easier (I can be a little dramatic at times!)

I have to admit that whilst I sold quite a lot of stuff, I also bought some as well even before I'd actually made any money, whoops!  My favourite being a very cool laundry box that came from an Eastbourne Launderette.  I'm from Eastbourne so it had sentimental value to me and it looked really cool!  I bought it from Jean at http://shrimptonandperfect.blogspot.co.uk/.  I liked Jean the moment I met her and knew that she was a lady after my own heart.  She sells lots of vintage and retro items and I hope that I meet up with her again, she's got good taste!

 I also met Lizzie aka The Washerwoman and bought a couple of bits from her including this super sweet little green stool and a gorgeous French mirror with its pretty flowers and pretty screw covers.

 I came away from the fair feeling very pleased with myself that I had finally plucked up the courage to do something I love.  I met some lovely people, bought some fabulous things and sold a little too (husband is safe for now!).  In fact I was so inspired that I created this blog, came up with the name Faded Rose Vintage and can't wait for the next fair...............This could be the start of something big!
